Not the likeliest venue for a book launch: Kreuzberg bar Möbel Olfe will tonight celebrate the release of Andrea Stappert’s ‘Under the Radar’, a collection of work spanning 26 years with an essay by Jonathan Dronsfield.
‘Andrea Stappert photographs form an important artistic archives of the international art scene, which she portrayed since the 1980s, with unerring eye. After studying painting she got in the vicinity of Martin Kippenberger’s first photographic orders and went off as more and more with the terrain of Photography familiar with. As an artist and not as a professional photographer took Stappert new, very personal ways of expression far staged by the usual portrait photography. Under the Radar brings together many previously unpublished photographs of the artist and gives insight into their extensive photographic work.’
