////// Steve Reid
is a luminary drummer/ percussionist, having played with an impressive amount of major artists of the last century, from James Brown to Sun Ra, Fela Kuti, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, John Coltrane or the Motown to name but a few.His illustrious career was also marked by innovation, experimentation and breaking frontiers, especially with his avant-garde & spiritual music in the 60’s-70’s & through his last work with in demand producer Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet. Steve Reid died in near poverty on 13 April 2010 from a throat cancer.

////// Steve Reid Foundation
has been set up by London-based Dj, Radio Journalist & label manager Gilles Peterson in his name to commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of the NY born Drummer but also in order to help musicians in crisis, especially those suffering from illness. It also seeks to support emerging new talents through education & information initiatives. The Foundations has gained the support of artists such as Four Tet, Floating Points, Theo Parrish, Emanative, Koreless, RocketnumberNine or Charlie Dark.
